Calling the Election

O.K., it's close enough for Libertymaniacs.com studios to call the presidential election. Barack Obama will be the winner.

We just wanted to go on the record before it became any more obvious. So far we are 2-0 since Bush's 1st term. Hooray for us. Of course, we don't have any proof of our record considering the blog is just a few months old. (I even called the 1st Bush fiasco where Bush lost the popular vote, but 'won' the election a few weeks prior to November 2000.)

I'll give myself a cookie.

Here's a good predictor --intrade.com. It's interactive trading with the news, how cool is that!

So, America will get its first black president, which certainly shows that the United States has advanced quite a bit socially in the last 30 years. But that comes with the fact that Obama is one of the more statist presidents of the last 30 years along with what will undoubtedly be a substantial democrat majority congress during the worst depression since the last big one in the late 1920s.

Sounds like fun. (Sarcasm.)

Any more predictions?

Sure. Obama and House and Senate democrats will win, and there will be a substantial and continual selloff in the american stock exchanges by January. The bad news will continue, and even after massive amounts of cash is injected into the system by the Fed and the federal government, the economy will continue to deteriorate.

By this time next year the Dow probably be hovering at around 9500. Volitility will be outrageous--just like today. Another economic 'stimulous' package will be afoot, and people will be wondering what the hell hit them.

I give Obama about 7 months in 2009 before the gloves come off and people start calling for his head.
